McCanns currently have little support in the US...where the focus is on their neglectful act of leaving three kids under 4 alone in a foreign hotel room. (That would be unthinkable to an American vacationing in the US, nevermind vacationing in a nearby South American country)
OTOH, if the "Arguido" label is removed, Americans will not be able to distinguish between a botched investigation and genuine innocence. (Unlike, say OJ, where genuine guilt was obvious, if not literally proven in criminal court)
So, if the Arguido label is removed, I suspect Americans will forgive the McCanns mistake persuaded by the McCanns well-rehear*ed contrition and cute accents, and refocus on the McCanns apparent "mistreatment" at the hands of a National Government, something culturally abhorant to all Americans.
At that point, The McCanns will likely become poster-children promoted indirectly by America's well funded Defense-Attorney lobby who love to tout the value of their sleezy profession to the American public. I'm afraid the TV Interview, book tour and movie will be green-lighted in a hurry. And thats just for Clarry's story,. :wink: ..so the McCanns, themselves, will likely make out like proverbial bandits.
